Great German raid on London by about 20 aeroplanes; 59 killed and 193 injured; four raiders brought down on return journey, one at mouth of Thames, two at sea 40 miles from the east coast, and a fourth off the mouth of the Scheldt; two British pilots and one observer killed, one pilot wounded, two British machines destroyed by enemy and two crashed from other causes. French aeroplanes bomb Treves, Coblentz, Ludwigshafen, and Essen as reprisal for German raids on Nancy and Epernay the day before.
