Naval Raid on Zeebrugge and Ostend by forces under Vice-Admiral Sir Roger Keyes; after intensive bombardment by monitors, cruiser Vindicative, Commander Carpenter, and auxiliaries Iris and Daffodil run alongside mole at Zeebrugge and land storming parties while three obsolete cruisers filled with concrete enter the harbour and two of them, the Iphigenia and Intrepid, are successfully sunk at the entrance of the Bruges Canal and an obsolete submarine run against piling of the mole and blown up; at Ostend two other block ships run ashore with a view to blocking up the harbour. British line advanced slightly near Robecq; 120 prisoners. Two British destroyers engage five Austrian destroyers in Adriatic; enemy fly for shelter to Durazzo.
