Flotilla of at least 10 large German destroyers sinks a British trawler and seven drifters while hunting a submarine in Straits of Dover. Dover shelled by a German submarine; one killed and seven wounded. Spread of Bolshevist domination in Finland.

War Office announces three columns of British troops from Rovuma river, from Lake Nyasa, and from the coast in conjunction with Portuguese in pursuit of enemy forces escaped into Mozambique. Changes in Admiralty: Rear-Admiral Fremantle succeeds Sir Henry Oliver as Deputy Chief of the General Staff; Rear-Admiral Hope succeeds Sir Rosslyn Wemyss as Deputy First Sea Lord. Vice-Admiral Bacon, Commanding Dover Patrol, transferred to Ministry of Munitions.
