German attempt at Verdun; they try to break through the Vaux-Chapitre defences; French progress east and north-west of Fleury. Thirteen Zeppelins raid the Eastern Counties and try to approach the London area; one Zeppelin destroyed at Cuffley, near Enfield, by Lieutenant William Leefe Robinson, R.F.C., awarded the V.C. Russians capture enemy position in the region of Brzezany, on the Zlota Lipa.
